God, has flikr changed alot lately?
Every time I go there, downloading a whole album of work is impossible, which is what I have to do when I put together a layout. Picassa is awesome in that I just start up the software and bam, whole album downloads while I do something else!
Then at my leisure I can easily refer to the albums offline, and on my computer.
Yeah, flikr displays individual pics great, but getting to the actual large rez pic to download is a pain. And I don't see where the option to download the whole album is. Considering that some people submit 20 to 40 pics in one go for the bigger articles...I literally get carpal tunnel trying to click through on EACH INDIVIDUAL flikr pic. Sometimes, up to 30 min. of sitting there, clicking and downloading one by one. Oy vey. Pretty website, LAME mechanics and usability for mass downloading. Which is the purpose for which magazine layout people want photographers to use these online photo repositories.
So for other purposes, yay for flikr. But for magazine purposes, give me Picassa everytime. Short and sweet.
And as a further note, I find it to be SO much easier to navigate for uploading and downloading and sharing, and posting my own work. Flikr has a terribly enigmatic design usability interface. I find it rather counter intuitive.
Gee, I guess I have strong feelings on this issue. Either that or too much cofee.
